What types of screen protectors are there? Which material is good for screen protectors?

Screen protective film, also known as mobile phone beauty film and mobile phone protective film, is a cold lamination film used to mount mobile phone screens. There are many materials and types of screen protectors. Let’s introduce some of the more common protective films and common protective film materials.

Types of screen protectors

1. High transparent scratch-resistant film
The outer surface layer is treated with a super wear-resistant material coating, which has a good touch effect, no bubbles are generated, and the material has a high degree of stiffness. It can effectively prevent scratches, stains, fingerprints and dust, and protect your love machine from external damage to the greatest extent.

2. frosted film
As the name suggests, the surface is matte texture, unique feel, giving users a different operating experience.
The advantage is that it can effectively resist fingerprint invasion and is easy to clean.

The downside is that it has a slight effect on the display. The surface layer is a frosted layer, which can effectively resist the invasion of fingerprints, and the fingers will slide over without leaving marks; even if there are liquid residues such as sweat, it can be cleaned by just wiping it by hand, which ensures the visual effect of the screen to the greatest extent.
Not all touch screen mobile phone users like the smooth surface feel, the reason why most users choose the frosted film is because of its "a little resistance" feel, which is also another operating experience.
Just like different people have different requirements for the writing fluency of the pen, it is also the same reason. For friends who have sweaty hands when using touch-screen mobile phones, sticking a frosted film will greatly reduce troubles.

3. Mirror film
The protective film acts as a mirror when the main screen backlight is off.
Text and images can be displayed normally through the film when the backlight is on. The film is divided into 5 to 6 layers, and one layer is subjected to aluminum vapor deposition.

4. Diamond film
The diamond film is embellished like a diamond, and it has a diamond effect and sparkles in the sun or light, which is eye-catching and does not affect the screen display.
The diamond film maintains high transparency and uses special silica gel, which does not produce air bubbles and has a significant exhaust speed during use. Diamond film feels better than frosted.

5. Privacy film
Using physical optical polarization technology, after the LCD screen is pasted, the screen only has visibility within 30 degrees from the front and the side, so that the screen is clearly visible from the front, but from the sides other than 30 degrees from the left and right, no screen content can be seen. .

Screen protector material

PP material
The protective film made of PP is the first to appear on the market. The chemical name is polypropylene, and it has no adsorption capacity. Generally, it is adhered with glue. After tearing it off, it will leave a glue mark on the screen, which will corrode the screen for a long time. This kind of material has been basically eliminated by the majority of protective film manufacturers, but some roadside stalls are still selling it, everyone should pay attention!

PVC material
The characteristics of the PVC material protection sticker are that it has a soft texture and is easy to paste, but this material is relatively thick and has poor light transmittance, which makes the screen look hazy. It also leaves a glue mark on the screen after tearing it off. This material is also easier to turn yellow and oil out with the change of temperature, and the service life is relatively short. Therefore, this kind of protective film is basically invisible on the market.
What can be seen on the market is an improved version of PVC protective film, which solves the previous problems of thick and poor light transmission, but still cannot solve the problem of easy to turn yellow and oil, and it is necessary to pay attention to the material of PVC. It does not have the ability to resist scratches. After a period of use, there will be obvious scratches on the protective film, which will affect the display effect of the screen and the overall aesthetics of the mobile phone. In addition, PVC itself is a toxic material, containing heavy metals. , has been completely stopped in Europe. This kind of screen protector made of PVC modified version is widely sold in the market, and it is characterized by a soft feeling in the hand. Many well-known protective film manufacturers have also stopped using this material.

PET material
PET material protective film is the most common protective sticker on the market at present. Its chemical name is polyester film. The characteristics of PET material protective film are that the texture is relatively hard and scratch-resistant. And it will not turn over like PVC material for a long time. But the general PET protective film relies on electrostatic adsorption, which is easier to foam and fall off, but even if it falls off, it can be reused after washing it in clean water. The price of PET protective film is much more expensive than that of PVC. . Many foreign well-known brands of mobile phones are randomly equipped with PET material protection stickers when they leave the factory. The PET material protection stickers are more exquisite in workmanship and packaging. There are protective stickers specially made for hot-buy mobile phone models, which do not need to be cut. Use directly.

AR material
The AR material protector is the best screen protector on the market. AR is a synthetic material, generally divided into three layers, silica gel is the adsorption layer, PET is the middle layer, and the outer layer is a special treatment layer. The special treatment layer is generally divided into two types, AG treatment layer and HC treatment layer, AG is anti-glare. Treatment, frosted protective film adopts this treatment method. HC is hardness treatment, which is the treatment method used for high light transmission protective film. The characteristics of this screen protective film are that the screen is non-reflective and has high light transmittance (95% above), will not affect the display effect of the screen. Moreover, the surface of the material has been processed by a special process, and the texture itself is relatively soft, with strong anti-friction and anti-scratch ability. There will be no scratches after long-term use. The screen itself causes damage and will not leave marks after tearing off. And it can also be reused after washing. It is also easy to buy in the market, and the price is more expensive than PET material.

PE material
The main raw material is LLDPE, which is relatively soft and has certain stretchability. The general thickness is 0.05MM-0.15MM, and its viscosity varies from 5G to 500G according to different use requirements (the viscosity is divided between domestic and foreign countries, for example, 200 grams of Korean film is equivalent to about 80 grams domestically). The protective film of PE material is divided into electrostatic film, textured film and so on. As the name suggests, electrostatic film is based on electrostatic adsorption force as a sticky force. It is a protective film without glue at all. Of course, the stickiness is relatively weak, and it is mainly used for surface protection such as electroplating. The mesh film is a kind of protective film with many grids on the surface. This kind of protective film has better air permeability, and the sticking effect is more beautiful, unlike the plain film, which will leave air bubbles.

OPP material
The protective film made of OPP is closer to the PET protective film in appearance. It has high hardness and certain flame retardancy, but its sticking effect is poor, and it is rarely used in the general market.

Transmittance
The "99% light transmittance" claimed by many protective film products is actually impossible to achieve. Optical glass has the highest light transmittance, and its light transmittance is only about 97%. It is impossible for a screen protector made of plastic materials to reach a level of 99% light transmittance, so the promotion of "99% light transmittance" is an exaggeration. The light transmittance of the protective film of the notebook computer is generally about 85%, and the better one is about 90%.

Durability
It is often seen on the market that some mobile phone protective film products are marked with "4H", "5H" or even higher wear resistance/hardness. In fact, most of them are not real wear resistance.

Rainbow pattern
The so-called "rainbow pattern" of the protective film is because the substrate needs to be subjected to a high temperature during the hardening treatment, and in the high temperature treatment, the uneven molecular structure of the substrate surface causes scattering. The higher the intensity of the hardening treatment, the harder it is to control the rainbow pattern. The existence of the rainbow pattern affects the light transmittance and visual effect. The high-quality protective film is difficult to see the rainbow pattern with the naked eye after the film is applied.

Therefore, the rainbow pattern is actually the product of hardening treatment. The higher the intensity of the hardening treatment, the stronger the rainbow pattern of the protective film. On the premise of not affecting the visual effect, the best hardening treatment effect will generally only reach 3.5H. to 3.8H. If it exceeds this value, either the wear resistance is falsely reported, or the rainbow pattern is prominent.
